DISMISSAL, G. NJAKA – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Our Ref: LUL/4/1

19th April 2024

Dear RMT Member

DISMISSAL, G. NJAKA – LONDON UNDERGROUND

You and your colleagues recently returned a magnificent ballot result in favour of taking industrial action over the unfair dismissal of Gerald Njaka. Despite commitments given to RMT, London Underground has failed to provide an outcome to Brother Njaka’s appeal hearing. This matter has been considered again by the National Executive Committee, which has taken the decision to instruct all RMT members at Oxford Circus Area to take strike action and NOT TO BOOK ON FOR SHIFTS THAT COMMENCE BETWEEN:

  • 22:00 hours on Friday 3rd May 2024 until 21:59 hours on Saturday 4th May 2024

This dismissal must be overturned as it is significantly out-of-proportion to the offence of refunding £2.40 without the customer present. Gerald has a previously unblemished disciplinary record and other comparator cases at LUL have been dealt with locally. I urge you all to support the strike action to demand that Brother Njaka is reinstated immediately.

STAND FIRM TOGETHER

SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
