DISMISSAL, IGNATIUS ANDREWS - RAIL GOURMET
I write further to my previous letter dated 16th February 2018 and in relation to the above matter. Firstly, I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues for your tremendous support and clear display of solidarity for your colleague.
As you are aware, Brother Andrews has been the victim of an overzealous manager and has been treated appallingly by Rail Gourmet. A meeting has been held with the company to try and reinstate our colleague to his substantive role. However, it was clear that during the meeting the company had already made their intentions clear and were refusing to consider any other position. Consequently, your National Executive Committee has considered this matter and following a report from our Lead Officer has decided that that a call for further industrial action is necessary to ensure justice for our colleague.
Therefore, the NEC is instructing all our Rail Gourmet members located at Manchester Piccadilly to take strike action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-
• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Friday 6th April 2018
I urge you all to continue this magnificent support for our colleague. We must send this company a clear message that we will not tolerate their appalling treatment of our colleague. We have to stand shoulder to shoulder during this dispute to ensure our colleague is fully reinstated to his substantive role.
UNITY IS STRENGTH
