Dismissal, J Myers, Senior Conductor – West Midlands Trains

To all Senior Conductors Bletchley, Northampton & Watford Junction – West Midlands Trains

18th April 2019

Dear Colleague,

Dismissal, J Myers, Senior Conductor – West Midlands Trains

You will have received a letter from the Human Resources Manager that commences with the heading:-

‘Please be aware the letter below contains language that some people may find highly offensive.’

Well I don’t think there is anyone who received the letter that wouldn’t find it highly offensive. What amazes me is that management felt it was acceptable to send this communication to your home. They cannot assume that it would not be read by others, possibly even children, and to use the quote they did – a quote that Brother Myers denies using, is totally unacceptable. To highlight it in bold so it stands out and draws your eye to it adds to the distressing nature of this communication.

The Union does not accept the accusation made against our member and is holding a ballot in his defence as you know. This is continuing and I urge you to use your vote and vote ‘Yes’.

But this is not what this communication is about. I am writing to let you know that I am writing to the company expressing our disgust that they should send out such an inflammatory communication to your home. This is probably one of the most unprofessional and disgraceful communication I have encountered by any company.

I know many of you have been upset by the letter and that is totally understandable. I will let you know management’s response and hopefully their apology as soon as, and if, I receive it.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
