DISMISSAL, M THOMAS – STAGECOACH SOUTH WEST

Our Ref B/4/12

15th October 2019

Dear Colleagues

DISMISSAL, M THOMAS – STAGECOACH SOUTH WEST

I write with regards to the above matter and further to a resolution from our South Devon Bus Branch which concerns Stagecoach South West’s decision to dismiss our Colleague and union representative, Brother Mark Thomas, from the company’s employment.

Brother Thomas has become the third RMT representative to leave the company in a short time period after the dismissal of Brother D Spence and resignation prior to disciplinary of Brother P Dulson. It is the view of the union that this represents nothing less than an attack on union organisation and representation at Stagecoach.

It is vitally important that the attack on your union is not allowed to continue and for Brother Thomas to be reinstated. I have informed the company that we are now in dispute and will be balloting members for industrial action. The opening day of the ballot will be Friday 18th October 2019, closing on Tuesday 5th November 2019.

I urge you all to ensure your details are correct. If your job title, address or workplace has recently changed, please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline number on 0800 376 3706, the RMT switchboard on 0207 387 4771 or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk to update your details. Additionally, if you are aware of a colleague who has recently moved or changed their details then please ask them to call on one of the above numbers to update their details.

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will inform you of any further developments on this issue when they arise.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
