DISMISSAL - R. BROOKS – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Our Ref: BR2/4/1

TO ALL COMMERCIAL GUARD, GUARD AND TRAIN DRIVER MEMBERS AT WOKING

20th September 2017

Dear Colleague,

DISMISSAL - R. BROOKS – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

I write further to my previous letter in relation to the above matter and where I informed you that our Brother Royston Brooks has been dismissed for simply carrying out his duty as a Safety Critical Guard.

It is imperative that we stand together and demonstrate our strength of feeling to the company in this dispute. I am urging members to vote ‘YES’ to both questions in the ballot for industrial action. It is crucial that you return your voting paper by First Post, Tuesday 26th September 2017.

Your vote is crucial and we need you and your colleagues to vote so we are able to act on your wishes and to ensure we send South Western Railway a clear message. We cannot allow the company to impose these draconian punishments on you and your colleagues for simply doing your job. We must stand up to defend our Brother and demand that he is fully reinstated to his substantive role.

If you have not already received a ballot paper then please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline urgently on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switch board on 020 7387 4771 and ask for the industrial relations department, where a replacement ballot paper will be sent to you by first class post. Additionally, if you are aware of a colleague who has not received their ballot paper, ask them to call one of the above numbers to update their details and to receive a replacement ballot paper.

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE
DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE – THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
