DISMISSAL, R. HILL, REVENUE PROTECTION ASSISTANT, SHREWSBURY – ARRIVA TRAINS WALES
I write with regards to the above matter and in relation to a resolution I have received from our Shrewsbury Branch. I have been made aware of the unfair dismissal of your colleague, Brother Ray Hill, who has been the victim of unfair procedures. It is the view of this Union that the decision to dismiss Brother Hill represents an abuse of the MFA Procedures. Ray has had a good attendance record in the last year and management are using historical records to punish members. This underhanded tactic and clear manipulation of the MFA procedures puts all members at risk of being disciplined or dismissed.
Your union’s National Executive Committee has considered the matter and I have been instructed to inform the company that we are now in dispute and will remain so until Ray is fully reinstated to his substantive role. Additionally, the Executive Committee has instructed me to prepare a ballot of all our ATW Ticket Office, Gateline, Despatch and Environmental members located at Shrewsbury Station and Depot for industrial action.
Therefore, I urge you all to ensure your membership details are correct in preparation of the ballot for industrial action.
