DISMISSAL, REBECCA HUGHES, TRAIN MANAGER, HOLYHEAD - VIRGIN WEST COAST
You will no doubt heard of management’s latest disgraceful tactics to undermine our dispute over the dismissal of your colleague Rebecca Hughes. The company are pedalling a distasteful and disgusting rumour that Rebecca has a job elsewhere and therefore you shouldn’t be supporting the action your union has called. This from a company who has mercilessly dismissed our member and completely ignored the clear mandate from you and your colleagues in defending Rebecca. This is made even more distasteful as this is a terribly difficult time for Rebecca who must be suffering extreme hardship losing her employment in these most atrocious of circumstances.
The fact remains that Rebecca hasn’t got alternative employment and it is scandalous some local managers are peddling this myth. It begs the question how low can they go? It is obvious that our industrial action is having a serious impact on management and are prepared to use every trick in the book to break our resolve. We will prove them wrong.
By way of a reminder for members, the industrial action remains on and I urge you to continue your magnificent support for Rebecca by continuing the below industrial action:-
• All Train Managers on Virgin West Coast are instructed not to work any rest days or voluntary overtime, until further notice.
I urge all members to strongly support this action and send management a clear message that the way they have treated Rebecca is unacceptable and she must be reinstated immediately.
