I have received concerning reports from our representatives that our colleague Wojciech Szabelski has been dismissed from duty by DHL (Avanti West Coast Contract). Wojciech has been employed by the company for a considerable amount of time and has had no prior issues on his record. The allegations against our colleague are seriously flawed with a number of discrepancies over whether the incident took place in a stationary or moving vehicle.

The entire case has been poorly handled with Wojciech not being informed of any punitive action being taken against him until the last minute. The union can only believe that the entire process has been flawed and that the erroneous charges against our colleague should be immediately overturned.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and believes that we have no other option than to enter into dispute with DHL and demand the immediate reinstatement of our colleague. Furthermore, the NEC has instructed me to ballot you and your colleagues for strike action over the appalling treatment of Wojciech.

Therefore, to ensure a swift ballot, membership checks are currently underway. I urge you all to ensure your details are correct in preparation for the ballot.
