DUTIES/SHIFT COVERAGE, BAKERLOO SOUTH GROUP LONDON UNDERGROUND

Our Ref: LUL/14/5

20th December 2018

Dear Colleague,

DUTIES/SHIFT COVERAGE, BAKERLOO SOUTH GROUP
LONDON UNDERGROUND

STRIKE ACTION on 26th December IS SUSPENDED
BOOK ON & WORK AS NORMAL

Further to my letter dated 12th December and following dispute resolution talks held with the Company, the National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to SUSPEND THE STRIKE ACTION on Wednesday 26th December 2018. You are therefore instructed to book on for all shifts and work as normal.

During the talks, the Company noted there are a number of vacant positions that have been covered by members for a length of time and management recognised that these positions require filling as soon as possible. The commitment received is that the current vacancies will be filled as soon as possible and no later than the end of February 2019. Any new vacancies will be filled in the normal way.

Your RMT negotiating team also raised the issue that the resourcing base line had been set too low across the Bakerloo South cover group and the Company will review the Business Needs Schematic (BNS) at the beginning of the New Year in consultation with your Reps.

The ‘traffic light system’ introduced by the previous Area Manager has now been removed and replaced with the current instruction that local managers must make every effort to cover all duties with the resources that are available.

The above has been confirmed in writing from the Company and your RMT Reps have noted the positive progress and improved industrial relations on the group. The Union will of course remain vigilant and monitor the situation in the New Year. The action called for Sunday 13th January to Monday 14th January 2019 currently remains in place should management renege on the commitments given. The action to REFUSE TO FAMILIARISE ANYONE WHO WOULD NOT NORMALLY WORK AT YOUR STATION e.g. Ambassadors, from 23:02 hours on Wednesday 26th December 2018 until further notice (this action is suspended for the duration of the strike from 22:29 Sunday 13th to 22:29 Monday 14th January 2019, but will commence again immediately after the strike ends) also remains in place.

All members and Reps are congratulated for their determination and efforts to reach this position and I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
