EAST COAST MAIN LINE TO BE BOUGHT BACK INTO PUBLIC OWNERSHIP

TO ALL VTEC MEMBERS

Dear Colleague,

EAST COAST MAIN LINE TO BE BOUGHT BACK INTO PUBLIC OWNERSHIP

I am sure you will by now have heard that Stagecoach and Virgin have been removed from the East Coast Main Line Franchise.

Whilst it is early days please be assured we are already looking after your interests. The government has set up a new company LNER (London North Eastern Railway) which is state owned. I have been in urgent initial talks with the company and would like to assure members that upon your transfer your pay, pensions, terms and conditions will remain exactly the same as they are now.

I have also raised the separate issue of the ongoing legal claim against VTEC in respect of the imposition of the 2017 pay award and have advised LNER that this still needs to be addressed.

Obviously this is a fast moving situation, indeed it was still being discussed in parliament within the last hour, but I just want to reassure members that your union will do everything to ensure protection of your hard earned terms and conditions.

I will write to you again as soon as there is anything to report.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash

General Secretary
