Dear RMT Member,
STRIKE ACTION AND
ACTION SHORT OF STRIKE CALLED
ECRO GRADING, SCOTLAND — NETWORK RAIL
The RMT has been pursuing the matter of an upgrade for ECRO members in Scotland, who are undertaking increased workloads and additional responsibilities, yet have not been upgraded in line with ECROs in England. Despite the best attempts of your representatives to get Network Rail to address this unfair grading structure through the machinery of negotiation, the company have demonstrated intransigence in their refusal to appropriately compensate you and your colleagues for your essential work.
This situation is unacceptable to your union and intolerable for members, as demonstrated by the strong mandate for industrial action in the ballot. Therefore, your union’s National Executive Committee is calling on all Network Rail members at Glasgow Cathcart Electrical Control Room to take the following action:
Members are instructed take continuous industrial action short of a strike not to take on any additional new equipment through an immediate withdrawal from all project work associated with new electrification and upgrades to the existing network from:
- 00:01 hours on Wednesday 6th March 2024
To comply with legal advice, the above action short of a strike is suspended for the duration of the strikes but will commence again immediately after the strike from 07:00 hours on Sunday 14th April 2024 until further notice.
Members are also instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:
- 18:59 hours on Saturday 9th March 2024 until 06:59 hours on Sunday 10th March 2024
- 18:59 hours on Saturday 16th March 2024 until 06:59 hours on Sunday 17th March 2024
- 18:59 hours on Saturday 23rd March 2024 until 06:59 hours on Sunday 24th March 2024
- 18:59 hours on Saturday 30th March 2024 until 06:59 hours on Sunday 31st March 2024
- 18:59 hours on Saturday 6th April 2024 until 06:59 hours on Sunday 7th April 2024
- 18:59 hours on Saturday 13th April 2024 until 06:59 hours on Sunday 14th April 2024
I urge members to stand firm together and support the action to demonstrate your commitment to fair grading and compensation.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
