ENHANCED SICK PAY ARRANGEMENTS – NETWORK RAIL HIGH SPEED

Our Ref BR6/9/9

TO ALL IM LEVEL 1 TO 5 MEMBERS ON HIGH SPEED

Dear Colleagues

ENHANCED SICK PAY ARRANGEMENTS – NETWORK RAIL HIGH SPEED

I write to advise you that that a review was recently conducted on South East Route over the contracts for our Maintenance members working on High Speed. In particular the existing sick pay entitlements for Infrastructure Maintainer Level 1 to 5 staff and Maintenance Managers Level 6 were considered. The existing sick pay arrangements give a maximum of 6 weeks full pay and 6 weeks half pay in any one year. Sick Pay is also not payable in the first 6 months of employment.

Having discussed the matter with our National Operations Council representatives, the following was proposed by Network Rail and has subsequently been agreed by the National Executive Committee:

Length of Service

Full Pay

Half Pay

Less than 1 year

6 weeks

6 weeks

1 year to 5 years

16 weeks

16 weeks

Over 5 years

26 weeks

26 weeks

“As a general rule, full pay relates to basic salary less any Statutory Sick Pay and Half Pay refers to half of basic salary plus any statutory sick pay. The periods of half pay may be extended at the discretion of Network Rail.”

The company has been informed of our acceptance of this proposal and have been requested to implement this major improvement to your terms and conditions immediately. I would also like to thank your representatives for their efforts in pursuing this agreement on your behalf.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
