EXTENDED TRAIN PREPARATION SCHEDULE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Our Ref: LUL/14/10

2nd May 2019

Dear Colleague,

EXTENDED TRAIN PREPARATION SCHEDULE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Further to previous correspondence, the industrial action begins today with you and your colleagues refusing training for tasks that are not part of your substantive role and refusing to train other staff to do tasks that are not part of their substantive role. (NB. This action is suspended for the duration of the below strike action but will commence again immediately afterwards from 07:01 on Monday 20th May, until further notice.)

The National Executive Committee has consulted with your RMT Fleet Branch and RMT Reps over this dispute and further action and has taken the decision to call on all members (excluding REW/TMU/Transplant) to take STRIKE ACTION BY NOT BOOKING ON FOR SHIFTS THAT COMMENCE BETWEEN:-

  • 07:00 hours Friday 17th May to 07:00 hours on Monday 20th May 2019

Also, for all members to take the following industrial action short of a strike from 07:01 hours on Monday 20th May, until further notice:-

  • Refuse to work without a valid risk assessment
  • Refuse to change or swap shifts
  • Refuse lone working
  • Refuse to work without a LU qualified First Aider at Work on site
  • Refuse to carry out tasks without a valid and up-to-date VMI, QP or WI
  • Refuse to work at any other location than your home location or associated sidings and call points
  • Refuse to work without a valid license
  • Refuse to work without a Fire Warden on site

The Company has been advised of the above and is aware that we are available for talks at ACAS aimed at resolving this dispute. However, we cannot allow the Company’s plans to decimate train preparation schedules to go ahead. Such a lack of regular safety checks will have a devastating impact on service, putting you and your colleagues under undue pressure and stress and leaving the whole of LUL and the travelling public at significant increased risk.

A further meeting with RMT Fleet Reps and RMT Trains Reps is scheduled for next week and I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

STAND FIRM TOGETHER – SUPPORT THE ACTION

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
