FAILURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE TRAINING, EP POINTS, SCOTLAND ROUTE – NETWORK RAIL

Our Ref: BR4/11/2

22 January 2020

Dear colleague

FAILURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE TRAINING, EP POINTS, SCOTLAND ROUTE – NETWORK RAIL

You may be aware that your representatives have raised major concerns over Network Rail’s continued failure to provide adequate training on EP points, despite the company giving an assurance last year that a training package would be available by October 2019. This deadline has obviously come and gone without any such training package appearing.

As a result, your National Executive Committee has endorsed your representatives’ request for a ballot of the S&T teams at Glasgow MDU and Perth for industrial action to get Network Rail to address this problem that they have failed to address up to now. This situation is unacceptable and Network Rail has got to realise that it must produce a training package that is fit for purpose and stop treating you and your colleagues, along with your representatives, with contempt.

The ballot will commence next Tuesday (28th January 2020), so look out for your voting papers in the post after this date. Make sure you fill in your voting paper as soon as possible and return by no later than Tuesday 11th February 2020.

I know members will vote 'YES' in this ballot, but it is so important that you do so in high numbers as the anti-trade union legislation means 50% of members have to vote for a ballot to be valid. Your personal single vote could make all the difference. Do not let these anti-democratic laws stop you fighting your cause.

If you do not receive your voting paper by Tuesday 4th February 2020, then please contact the RMT freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706 or the union’s switchboard on 020 7387 4771 and ask for the industrial relations department.

Important Please Note: The Scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is now ‘Civica Election Services' and not the 'Electoral Reform Society'. Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE
RETURN YOUR VOTING PAPER
VOTE YES TO BOTH QUESTIONS ON THE BALLOT PAPER

Yours sincerely
