FIXED TERM CONTRACTS, WORKSHOP STAFF, PICCADILLY LINE – TUBE LINES

Our Ref: LUL/13/2

27th July 2017

Dear Colleague,

FIXED TERM CONTRACTS, WORKSHOP STAFF, PICCADILLY LINE – TUBE LINES

ALL INDUSTRIAL ACTION SUSPENDED

Following your massive ‘YES’ vote in the recent ballot, your RMT negotiating team had a strong position during talks with the Company and after a number of meetings, the following proposal was received today:-

•    The Company commits to transfer all 35 FTC staff to permanent FTE contracts

•    RMT commits to a JWP commencing on Monday 31st July with the purpose of agreeing the roster for the ‘lifting team’ during the 3-month Leaf Fall period. The JWP will complete the review no later than Friday 4th August 2017

•    Over the course of the next 2 years, any vacancies arising in the Piccadilly Line Fleet maintenance team will be filled from the pool of 35 employees

•    At the end of this period any of the 35 employees that have not been absorbed into the maintenance team will be managed in accordance with existing arrangements, and any redeployment will be within the LU Fleet organisation

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and noted that the above lays the basis for a satisfactory resolution to this dispute. Having consulted with your Reps, the NEC has taken the decision to suspect all the current industrial action with immediate effect. All members are therefore instructed to work as normal.

All Tube Lines Fleet members and Reps at Northfields and Cockfosters Depots are congratulated on their resolve not to allow the introduction of a two-tier workforce, which has enabled us to reach this position.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
