FLEET DEPOT STRATEGY, WALES AND BORDERS FRANCHISE, KEOLIS AMEY
You will recall that you and your colleagues delivered a huge mandate for industrial action following a strike ballot back in May. This ballot was followed up by an instruction from your union’s National Executive Committee to take strike action in early June and also to take action in the form of a rest day and overtime ban. However, a commitment from the company to enter meaningful discussions with RMT in order to find a resolution to this dispute led to all industrial action being suspended.
Both parties agreed to allow two months for progress to be made in these negotiations. A meeting which had been scheduled to take place on Monday this week to consider the company’s latest position was cancelled and should be taking place today instead.
Your NEC considered this matter yesterday and took note of the latest reports received from our negotiating team on these discussions. Your NEC also noted that, to date, these reports show that there does not seem to have been much progress made. The NEC has, therefore, instructed me to obtain a report of today’s meeting from your Regional Organiser and place it back before the NEC next Tuesday, 23rd July. The NEC also instructed me to inform the company that, should no significant progress be achieved at today’s meeting, then you and your colleagues will be taking industrial action in line with the mandate you delivered in the strike ballot in May.
I will of course keep you fully updated on all developments which arise from the negotiations. Thank you for your continued support for your union’s position throughout this dispute and I will write again in due course.
