FURLOUGH ARRANGEMENTS – CORONAVIRUS – BALFOUR BEATTY (LU CONTRACT)
You will have by now received information from your employer with regards to its Furlough Arrangements and on which members of staff are to be placed on the government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
Your union’s National Executive Committee has considered the company’s proposed arrangements and noted that management have rejected your union’s arguments that all who are put on the scheme should receive 100% of their salary during this period.
Despite this, your NEC does however note that the Balfour Beatty scheme does provide for the company paying 80% of all basic earning above the government cap of £2500 per month.
Your NEC also noted that the company intended to impose a furlough based on the minimum government standard unless your union made a collective agreement to accept the terms on offer.
Therefore, your NEC agreed to the Balfour Beatty arrangements but has also resolved to support all members at the company to recover any lost earnings in future pay negotiations and in any other way possible.
I trust this keeps you advised of your union’s position in this matter and I will write again should any further developments arise.
