21st May 2020

Dear Colleague,

Further to my letter dated 9th April 2020, the union has been advised that Grand Central intend to extend their current furlough arrangements until 12th July 2020. The company has stated that should the company find that it is able to re-open services sooner than expected, they will provide 48 hours notice of the need to recall you to return to work. They have requested, in line with the Government requirements, for a formal confirmation and agreement to the extension.

The company has also advised the union that due to a lack of funding or income they are still not in a position to top up the additional 20% from the basic government scheme of 80%. However, Grand Central has raised the possibilities that they may look to recompense retrospectively.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has noted that there are no further changes proposed, other than to extend the furlough. Therefore, I have been instructed to inform Grand Central that we are in acceptance of the extension to the furlough arrangements up to and until 12th July 2020.

I trust this keeps you updated on the current situation. Your union is doing everything possible during this difficult time and will continue to monitor the situation.

In the meantime I hope that you and your family are keeping safe and well during this difficult time.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
