FURLOUGH ARRANGEMENTS, CORONAVIRUS – SELECT SERVICE PARTNERS
I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that it has been brought to my attention by your Union Representatives that Select Service Partners has recently issued a notice to staff advising of their intentions to allocate holiday entitlement in the month of June 2020. The company also state that they will review the holiday allocation and confirm their plans for July and August 2020 onwards.
The matter has been considered by your union’s National Executive Committee who note that SSP intend to blanket allocate annual leave periods for employees whilst on Furlough. The Executive Committee also note that whilst it is a thoroughly reprehensible move by the company that the legal position appears far from clear and Government guidelines vague.
Therefore, I have been instructed to obtain a legal opinion on all aspects of SSP’s intention to implement its proposals on annual leave. In particular, the manner which they have announced this, including any contractual aspects, the amended WTD covering Coronavirus and Furlough, method of consultation and the short notice given.
I have also been instructed to inform you and your colleagues to register with the company ‘that any enforced allocation of annual leave is done so under protest and may be subject to challenge at a future date.’
