FUTURE OF CLEANING SERVICES – TRANSPORT FOR WALES
Further to my letter dated the 4th August 2021 with regards to the above dispute, it has been brought to my attention that TfW has invited you and your colleagues to attend a video meeting today to discuss the ballot for industrial action.
This meeting is voluntary and therefore it is entirely up to you as to whether or not you choose to attend it. If you do attend and management ask you for your comments, we would suggest that you do not commit to anything.
The RMT has provided TfW with all the legal requirements to serve notice of the ballot for industrial action. This is a legal democratic ballot and if you or your colleagues have any queries or concerns, we would suggest that you talk to your Trade Union and Representatives.
Let us not forget that TfW was given until the end of June 2021 to live up to their commitment to Cleaners to achieve parity in the middle of 2020. The RMT has been patient with TfW for long enough.
Instead of TfW trying to undermine the ballot for industrial action, what the company should be doing is focussing their energy on getting back round the negotiating table and reaching a settlement with your Union Representatives.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.
