RMT SUSPENDS INDUSTRIAL ACTION
MEMBERS INSTRUCTED TO WORK AS NORMAL

Dear Colleague

FUTURE OF CLEANING SERVICES – TRANSPORT FOR WALES

Further to my letter dated the 8th September 2021 with regards to the above dispute, I can now advise you that positive discussions have been held with TfW and your Union Representatives and a formal updated proposal based on these discussions has been received.

The matter has been considered by the union’s National Executive Committee who note the proposals from TfW and that significant progress has been made on the following:

· Establishment of an Aligned Cleaning grade structure across TFW and TFW RL.
· Establishing a supported grade and career progression route.
· Significant improvements to rates of pay for TFW Train cleaning grades.
· Further improvements to Terms and conditions.
· Training and new competency structure to facilitate grade progress.

Therefore, the industrial action due to take place from 18.59 hours on Friday 24th September 2021 and 18.59 hours on Sunday 26th September 2021 is suspended and you are instructed to work as normal during these times.

Additionally, the planned demonstration outside the Senedd in Cardiff on Thursday 16th September 2021 has been postponed.

The RMT remains in dispute with TfW over this matter and reserves the right to use our industrial action mandate should the company’s final proposals fail to meet our members’ aspirations.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
