TO ALL RMT MEMBERS ON INTERSERVE CONTRACTS
FUTURE OF INTERSERVE
Further to previous correspondence I write in relation to the ongoing financial difficulties with Interserve. We have been informed that there is due to be a shareholder vote this Friday where the future of the company is likely to be decided. Over the last few months we have continued to raise our concerns with the company directly and the TUC has also been lobbying the government on this issue.
Of course our primary concern is to ensure our members are protected whatever happens at the shareholder meeting on Friday. In order to do this we have approached your employer as as well as the client companies such as Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and London Underground to find out what contingencies have been put in place to protect staff should the worst happen. In particular we are asking for assurances over continuity of employment, the payment of wages and the protection of your terms and conditions. We are also demanding that the work is brought back in order to guarantee secure employment and the continued provision of the high quality service you provide.
Rest assured that your union are doing all we can to protect our members at this difficult and uncertain time. I will write to you again once the position has become clearer.
