Hitachi - Outstations Group Update

Dear Colleague,

I am aware that members in the Hitachi Outstations group have become frustrated about the lack of progress being made in regard to recognition, pay, hours of work, annual leave entitlements and other matters.

The outstations group includes:

Liverpool Lime Street - Technical Riding Inspectors (TRI)
Edge Hill - Lead Technician

Leeds & Doncaster - Technical Riding Inspectors (TRI)
Neville Hill - Lead Technicians & Team Leader

York - Maintenance Control

Hull - Lead Technicians & Team Leader

Heaton - Lead technician & Team Leader

Hull - Lead Technicians & Team Leader

Scotland (Craigentinny, Glasgow, West of Scotland) - TRT's, TRT Team Leaders, Maintenance Controllers & Maintenance ControllerTeam Leaders

This frustration is shared by your union and experience tells us that engaging with Hitachi can be very difficult. This is despite the fact that Hitachi has given commitments to RMT that they will recognise you union for representation and negotiation and will engage on these matters.

Nevertheless I am glad to report that a meeting is being arranged with the company for next week 6th May with our Lead Officer Daren Ireland and the company management to commence the engagement on all issues.

I will update you on all matters following that meeting.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
