Impact of Covid-19 – South Western Railways

TO ALL SWR RMT MEMBERS

Our Ref: BR2/14/3
7th May 2020

Dear Colleagues

Impact of Covid-19 – South Western Railways

Your National Executive Committee has asked that I circulate the following report to all SWR members.

SWR report for NEC: https://bit.ly/35FF0pM

Having considered the report, the National Executive Committee has noted that there are four areas of concern within the report. They are as follows:-

· Proposal to self despatch at platforms one to six at Waterloo Station
· Passenger assistance
· Guards loss of one hour per day when self isolating/shielding
· Suspension of an RMT member at Wimbledon Park Depot

In line with the report, the National Executive Committee has rejected the company’s proposal for self despatch at platforms one to six at Waterloo Station and the passenger assistance brief. As to the other issues, the RMT will be raising our concerns with both SWR and the Rail Industry Coronavirus Forum (RICF) at the earliest available opportunity. Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank your Representatives for all the hard work they have been undertaking on behalf of this union since the start of the coronavirus crisis.

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will write again when there are new developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
