IMPORTANT UPDATES TO PLANNED STRIKE ACTION

 

REBALLOT OPENS SOON

 

Dear RMT Member, 

 

IMPOSITION OF ROSTER, CARDIFF S&T DEPOT — NETWORK RAIL

 

Following the imposition of a detrimental roster at Cardiff S&T Depot, you and your colleagues have been taking long-running weekend strike action to defend your work/life balance and protect your health and wellbeing. Despite the best attempts from your representatives, the dispute remains unresolved. 

 

Therefore, the National Executive Committee has considered a report from the Lead Officer and taken the decision to SUSPEND the following strike action:

 

Members are instructed to book on and work all shifts as normal between:

 

• 17:01 hours on Friday 19th January 2024 until 04:59 hours on Saturday 20th January 2024

 

All other industrial action you were previously notified of remains in place. As a reminder, members are instructed not to book on for any shift that commences between:

 

• 17:01 hours on Saturday 20^th January 2024 until 04:59 hours on Sunday 21^st January 2024

 

• 17:01 hours on Friday 26th January 2024 until 04:59 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024

 

• 17:01 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024 until 04:59 hours on Sunday 28th January 2024

 

Additionally, members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

 

• 09:59 hours on Friday 2^nd February 2024 until 20:59 on Sunday 4^th February 2024

 

Furthermore, due to the anti-trade union laws, the current mandate for industrial action will soon expire. In order to maintain this mandate for continuous industrial so that this matter can be resolved, the National Executive Committee has instructed me to conduct a re-ballot of all affected members for strike action and action short of a strike. 

 

The relevant ballot notice has been served on the employer in line with current legislation, and the ballot papers will be dispatched by the independent scrutineer on Friday 19^th January 2024 and will be arriving at your home address shortly.

 

The ballot closes after First Post on Tuesday 6^th February 2024.
