IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS & ABROGATION OF AGREEMENTS, TRAFFORD PARK – FREIGHTLINER LTD

Our Ref: BR3/8/2

18th June 2020

Dear Colleague

IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS & ABROGATION OF AGREEMENTS, TRAFFORD PARK – FREIGHTLINER LTD

I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that I have received a report from the Lead Officer advising that Freightliner has acted outside of the procedural arrangements and imposed an unagreed roster on our Traffic Clerk and Multi Skilled Operative members located at Trafford Park. The imposed roster will have a significant impact on our member’s earnings and the RMT believes this is a serious abrogation of local agreements.

I understand that a Fail to Agree was recorded at a recent Avoidance of Disputes meeting and a further meeting has been held at Director Level. However, despite the best efforts of your Union Representatives bringing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion, the issues remain unresolved.

The matter has been subject to recent consideration by the union’s National Executive Committee who notes the imposed unagreed roster on our Traffic Clerk and MSO members. Despite matters having been escalated in accordance with procedural agreements in place, including recording failure to agree, avoidance of dispute meetings and a further meeting at ‘director’ level, all have failed to resolve the problems created and we are left with no alternative other than to declare a dispute.

Therefore, I have informed Freightliner Ltd that a dispute situation now exists between our two organisations and I am instigating a ballot for industrial action of all our affected members. To help us ensure a swift ballot I would ask that you notify the Union of any changes to your membership records and ensure your details are up-to-date by contacting the RMT Head Office on 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Membership department. Alternatively, members can contact the RMT Freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706 or by emailing the helpline at info@rmt.org.uk and notifying them of any updates.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

Best wishes.
