IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS, CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE – FIRST HULL TRAINS

Our Ref: BR2/8/2

31st May 2019

Dear Colleague,

IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS, CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE – FIRST HULL TRAINS

I am writing in relation to the above matter and following reports I have received from my Lead Officer that First Hull Trains are imposing punitive rosters onto you and your colleagues. It is obvious that these rosters have a severe impact on your work-life balance and are drastically different from your current working arrangements.

The situation has been made worse by the company’s clear lack of concern for you and your colleagues. It is shocking that you have not been offered any form of reward/benefit or enhancements for having to work these unsociable and detrimental rosters. These rosters – whilst being poor – would have been more palatable if there had been an offer of remuneration.

Therefore, I have written to the company to ask they immediately meet your union to address our concerns and to try and find a meaningful resolution to this issue. We cannot allow the company to bulldoze through these reckless rosters without true consultation and reward. The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and believes that we have no other option than to ballot you and your colleagues for industrial action. The ballot will open on Wednesday 5th June 2019 and will be dispatched via 1st class post. You will need to return your voting paper by no later than first post on Thursday 13th June 2019.

To ensure you have a chance to vote I urge you all to ensure your details are correct. If your job title, or workplace has recently changed, please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline number on 0800 376 3706, the RMT switchboard on 0207 387 4771 and ask to speak to the Industrial Relations Department or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk. Also, if you are aware of a colleague who has moved address, changed their job title or workplace, ask them to contact us on one of the above numbers.

If you do not receive a ballot paper by Friday 7th June 2019, please contact the industrial relations department on the above contact methods, so we can update your details and urgently send a replacement paper to your home address.

MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR VOTE!
UNITY IS STRENGTH!

Yours sincerely
