IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS, SENIOR CONDUCTORS – EAST MIDLANDS RAILWAY
I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that I have raised my grave concerns with East Midlands Railway over the company’s intention to impose rosters unsupported by risk assessment and working methodology appropriate to the pandemic circumstances on our Senior Conductor grade members.
East Midlands Railway has a commitment to the Rail Industry Coronavirus Forum to work together in a consistent manner and maintain positive industrial relations. This situation the company has created is far from positive.
Our members are already working under extremely difficult circumstances. Therefore, I have written to EMR demanding that the Senior Conductor Rosters are placed back into the machinery and negotiated in line with the ‘Principles for maintaining the risk of exposure to Covid-19 to passengers and employees across the GB mainline rail industry’ document, with immediate effect.
In accordance with the above and as a result of the company’s failure to adhere to the RICF protocol, a dispute situation now exists between our two organisations and I shall be balloting our Senior Conductor grade members for industrial action.
I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.
