IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS, STATION SUPERVISORS – ARRIVA RAIL NORTH
I write further to my previous letter dated 6th February 2018, in which I advised you of the magnificent ballot result in favour of strike action and industrial action short of a strike.
The company have done little to try and resolve this dispute and their silence on this issue is appalling. There is no doubt that since the re-organisation of the working arrangements, you and your colleagues have been subject to punitive, anti-social and demoralising working rosters. The company have a responsibility to ensure that an appropriate work life balance is met, especially when it comes to matters such as child care and dependent responsibilities for example. These rosters are clearly demoralising and just emphasises the contempt the company has for you and your colleagues.
Therefore, the National Executive Committee has considered this matter and acknowledging the clear disregard the company has for your and your colleagues, the NEC has decided there is no other option than to take strike action. The NEC is instructed your and your colleagues not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-
• 0001 hours until 2359 hours on Saturday 3rd March 2018
I urge you all to stand shoulder to shoulder during this action and stand by the magnificent ballot result that you returned. The company need to understand that we will not allow them to impose demoralising and destructive rosters that impact our work life balance. We must stand strong and force the company to take our concerns seriously.
