ISS Accommodation Edinburgh

TO ALL ISS STAFF at Edinburgh

Our Ref: HSR/2/14

25th October 2018

Dear Colleague,

ISS Accommodation Edinburgh

Further to previous correspondence, all ISS members at Edinburgh are congratulated for the solid yes vote for both strike action and action short of a strike in this dispute. Following consultation with members, the National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to call on all ISS staff at Edinburgh to take strike action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Sunday 18th November 2018.

As you know, the issues which form this dispute are: that despite members and the union raising concerns over the quality of accommodation with the company for some considerable period of time to no avail.

The air conditioning has stopped working and the facilities are sometimes unbearably hot; there is no provision of cold running water; and the company are forcing workers to accept storage of chemicals and other equipment in an area that should solely be used for staff welfare. These matters put the company in breach of its legal responsibility to provide suitable and sufficient facilities in the workplace under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.

The Union remains available for talks with the Company and I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
