LEEDS TERMINAL REORGANISATION - FREIGHTLINER
Your union has recently been involved in negotiation with Freightliner over a proposed reorganisation of the Leeds Terminal. The reorganisation proposed to remove the on-shift Chief Traffic Clerks to an office-hours role and for their responsibilities on-shift to be transferred to the lower graded CO3 traffic clerk grades. Freightliner had considered the additional responsibilities as falling within the job descriptions of the existing CO3 traffic clerk grade.
Members were not prepared to accept this and following a period of negotiation your union got Freightliner to agree to enhance existing CO3 grade staff to a CO4 grade. This enhancement provides an increase in basic salaries of £3,600 pa.
Having considered a report from the Lead Officer, the NEC accepted the company’s proposals and the grade increase has now been implemented. It is clear this positive result would not have been possible without the determination of members and the strong representations made by the union on your behalf. I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter.
