LEISURE TRAVEL PASS, CHURCHILL CLEANERS – NEXUS (TYNE & WEAR METRO)

Our Ref: BR2/12/2

29th November 2019

Dear Colleague,

LEISURE TRAVEL PASS, CHURCHILL CLEANERS – NEXUS (TYNE & WEAR METRO)

As you are aware, Nexus (Tyne & Wear Metro) withdrew the travel passes that were issued to you and your colleagues. This was a seriously disappointing position taken by the company that the union wholeheartedly opposed. The union immediately raised this issue with NEXUS and have been in ongoing discussions to have these passes reinstated.

I am pleased to report that after extensive and direct discussions with both the North of Tyne Mayor and the Directorate of Nexus by our Lead Officer and representatives, the company has agreed to reissue the passes. Therefore, you and your colleagues will now have access to leisure passes, enabling free and unrestricted travel on the Tyne and Wear Metro System.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and welcomed this positive news and congratulated our Lead Officer on securing these passes for our members. The NEC and I would also like to thank our Lead Representative, whose efforts and strong representation has helped the union rectify this injustice. I will now be ensuring that the company reissues these passes immediately.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
