Dear Colleagues

STRICTLY PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL – NOT FOR REDISTRIBUTION

LNER (FORMER VTEC) LEGAL CLAIMS

I write further to the meeting that took place in January 2019 where our solicitors gave an update on the two legal cases the union has been pursuing against LNER over the imposition of the 2017 pay award. The NEC has considered a detailed report from our solicitors on this matter and has accepted their recommendation to withdraw the union’s support for the second claim on the basis that now the pay increase has been implemented the claim is no longer viable. Please note that the first claim is unaffected and continues to be supported by the union.

Our solicitors will be writing directly to each affected member giving an update on the first claim and advising of the union’s decision with regard to the second claim asking for their individual authority to withdraw from it. As the representatives who will be fielding queries from members on this issue we wanted to give you prior sight of the letters before they are sent out. The correspondence will be sent out to members on Tuesday 19th March 2019.

The letters can be accessed using the following link http://bit.ly/2Cil0Mr

If you have any questions or need any clarification on this correspondence please contact James Murza in the Industrial Relations Department on j.murza@rmt.org.uk.

Yours sincerely
