LONE WORKING, REVENUE PROTECTION – GREATER ANGLIA

To All Greater Anglia Revenue Protection Officers

Our Ref: BR2/14/10

19th February 2020

Dear Colleague

LONE WORKING, REVENUE PROTECTION – GREATER ANGLIA

Further to my letter dated the 28th January 2020 with regards to the above matter and where I informed you of Greater Anglia proposals to change the current working practices from working in pairs to lone working for Revenue Protection Officers. I can now advise you that the RMT has declared a dispute situation with Greater Anglia following the company’s failure to withdraw the proposals.

As you are aware, the RMT has various safety concerns with the proposal and has rejected the proposal outright on the grounds of safety in the workplace. Despite the union’s grave concerns, Greater Anglia has taken the decision to implement the change in working practice from the 16th February 2020.

The union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and I have been instructed to initiate a ballot for industrial action of all our Greater Anglia Revenue Protection Officers. Therefore, the ballot will open on Tuesday 25th February 2020 and will close on Tuesday 10th March 2020.

If you have not received your voting paper by Tuesday 3rd March 2020 please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline urgently on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switch board on 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department, where a replacement ballot paper will be sent out first class post.

Please do not waste your vote. I urge you to vote ‘YES’ for strike action and ‘YES’ for industrial action short of a strike when you receive your voting paper. It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action so we are not prevented from acting on your wishes due to the anti-trade union laws.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION

VOTE ‘YES’ TO BOTH QUESTIONS IN THE

BALLOT FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Best wishes.
