OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC PAYMENTS - EUROSTAR

 

An avoidance of dispute meeting has taken place with Eurostar, who have provided an inadequate offer on Premium Payments for work during the Paris Olympics. The offer from the company is extremely divisive and does not reward all the Eurostar family who all contribute to the success and profits of the business.

 

I have asked that the company makes a payment to all staff who form part of the Eurostar family. This payment must be of equal value to what is being offered to other trade unions across the Eurostar contract and in other countries. 

 

The Union’s National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has instructed me to inform Eurostar that we are now in dispute over this matter. The NEC also believes that we must now ballot for strike action and industrial action short of a strike in the form of an overtime ban and rest day working ban to demand Eurostar provide an adequate offer. 

 

Therefore, the Ballot will Open on Friday 21^st June 2024 and will Close on Thursday 11^th July 2024.

 

If you have not received your ballot paper by Thursday 27^th June 2024 please email us at info@rmt.org.uk or contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 and a replacement voting paper will be sent out to your home address by first class post.

 

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action, so we are not prevented from acting on members' wishes by the anti-trade union ballot thresholds. Failure to meet these thresholds means industrial action cannot happen, so a high turnout is crucial.

 

I urge you support for your Union by voting ‘YES’ to both questions.
