OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC PAYMENTS - EUROSTAR

Our Ref: BR2/22/2

26th June 2024

Dear RMT Member,

OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC PAYMENTS - EUROSTAR

Negotiations have taken place with Eurostar to seek an improved offer on Premium Payments for working during the Paris Olympic and Paralympic games.

Originally, the company had offered a shift-based payment, which was divisive and failed to provide an adequate payment for working during this busier period. Your negotiating team proposed that the company make a post-Olympic ‘one-off payment’ rather than the shift-based payment proposed by the company. The Union also suggested that the number of eligible employees should include groups such as, ADCM’s, rostering/planning and the frontline contact centre roles.

Eurostar have accepted this proposal and have increased the number of eligible employees who will receive the payment. The company have agreed to make a one-off payment amount of at least £650 – This figure may increase slightly after finalisation of figures have been checked by the company. This one-off payment replaces the previously proposed shift payments.

The payment will be made to each eligible member in the September 2024 payroll – This is with the exception of Head Office Support Function staff, who will not be included in the payment, Eurostar will write to these grades with clarification on their non-inclusion.

Delegates at the RMT Union's Annual General Meeting in Hull have voted on the revised offer from the company and have taken the decision to accept the offer from Eurostar and cancel the current ballot for industrial action.

There is no doubt that this pressure has forced the company to provide an adequate offer that rewards members for working during the Olympics.

I trust this keeps you advised and I will advise you of any further developments on this matter.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
