RMT CALLS ADDITIONAL STRIKE ACTION

Dear Colleague

PAY & CONTRACT MATTERS – EAST MIDLANDS RAILWAY

Further to my letter dated the 5th August 2021 with regards to the above dispute, once again I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues for returning an overwhelming yes vote in the re-ballot for industrial action. Our EMR Senior Conductor members returned a staggering 74% vote in favour of Strike Action and 87% vote in favour of Industrial Action Short of a Strike.

Your union’s National Executive Committee has now considered the matter and has taken the decision to call on all our EMR Senior Conductor members to take the following industrial action. Therefore, you and your colleagues are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 22nd August 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 29th August 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 5th September 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 12th September 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 19th September 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 26th September 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 3rd October 2021
00.01 Hours and 23.59 Hours on Sunday 10th October 2021

Please note that you have already been advised of the strike action called for Sunday 8th August 2021 and Sunday 15th August 2021 which of course remains in place. We will give notice of further Sunday’s if no agreement is reached with the company.

I ask you all again to show your support and stand shoulder to shoulder during the days of industrial action. We must ensure we protect our Senior Conductor members terms and conditions of employment and send a clear message to East Midlands Railway that we will not allow them to treat us with contempt.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
