Our Ref: BR2/14/2

Dear RMT Member,
PAY, TERMS AND CONDITIONS, CLEANING GRADES – TRANSPORT FOR WALES
The Cambrian Branch has submitted a resolution supporting the concerns raised by our Swansea No 1 Branch, as outlined in my correspondence dated Wednesday 12th June 2024. Our Cambrian branch has raised concerns over how widespread the outsourcing and exploitation has become since the launch of the TfW brand.
Our Cambrian branch now believes that promises made at the commencement of the TFW operation with regards to outsourcing have not been met and that it is now time to hold these promises to account.
In addition to this branch resolution, the Lead Officer has also submitted a report and has provided recommendations on steps to be taken to initiate a campaign to support our members.
The Union’s National Executive Committee has considered this matter and welcomed the resolution from our Cambrian branch and the report from your Lead Officer. Therefore, the NEC has instructed me to undertake the following:
- To convene a strategy meeting of our Lead Officer, Representatives, AGS and NEC to discuss the issues.
- To seek a timetable of meetings for negotiations from Transport for Wales as soon as reasonably practicable.
- To place a report before the NEC after the forthcoming meeting on 23rd July 2024
- To place regular reports back before the NEC.
I am currently in the process actioning this instruction and I will place any updates before our National Executive Committee for further examination and report. I will continue to keep you advised once there are further updates to report.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
