PROPOSED ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE, CENTRAL RAIL SYSTEMS ALLIANCE – BALFOUR BEATTY

Our Ref BR4/15/4

5th February 2020

TO ALL RMT MEMBERS AT BALFOUR BEATTY

Dear Colleagues

PROPOSED ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE, CENTRAL RAIL SYSTEMS ALLIANCE – BALFOUR BEATTY

I write in relation to proposed organisational changes at Balfour Beatty within the Central Rail Systems Alliance. As you may have heard Balfour Beatty intend to reduce the head count at sites in Crewe, Doncaster, Peterborough, Saltney and York, putting members at risk of redundancy.

Your Lead Officer has been involved in the consultations and will be attending further meetings with the company about these proposals this week after which a clearer picture will emerge about what the proposals will mean for members involved.

I have written to Network Rail to raise concerns and request a meeting about the proposed redundancies at their contracted service provider, particularly as Balfour Beatty have cited a significant reduction in S&C units in CP6 (20.8 units/year) compared to the previous CP5 (65 units/year). I will keep you advised of any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
