Dear RMT Member
PROPOSED REDUNDANCIES – BALFOUR BEATTY (INTEGRATED TRACK TEAM CONTRACT)
The Union recently received a notification of proposed redundancies from Balfour Beatty to commence consultation over the potential redundancy of up to 28 employees due to the BP06 instruction for a headcount reduction and a reduced budget and lower workbank from the client, LUL.
Your RMT Lead Officer and Reps have attended an initial meeting and further discussions will now take place in an effort to mitigate job losses and formulate any required selection criteria for redundancies. The Company was advised that RMT is completely opposed to compulsory redundancies and will use all means at our disposal to protect these jobs.
The National Executive Committee has considered a report received from your Lead Officer and taken the decision to seek an urgent meeting with the Company and an LUL management representative in relation to this matter. Also, to write to the Mayor of London to demand the insourcing of you and your colleagues.
I will keep you advised of all further developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
