PROPOSED REDUNDANCIES, CCTV STAFF, PAISLEY & DUNFERMLINE – SCOTRAIL

Our Ref: BR2/16/3

29th June 2017

Dear Colleague

PROPOSED REDUNDANCIES, CCTV STAFF, PAISLEY & DUNFERMLINE – SCOTRAIL

The RMT has today received disturbing reports that Scotrail are proposing to reduce their workforce by 22 posts at Paisley and Dunfermline CCTV locations. This information has come to light within the last 24 hours following a consultation briefing between management and staff.

I understand this has come as a shock to you however I would like to reassure our members that the RMT are treating this matter urgently and the union will do everything in our power to protect your jobs.

At a time of unprecedented terror threats across the nation these security posts are crucial to providing safe and secure railway network. Therefore, the RMT will not sit idly by and watch Scotrail put lives at risk by axing 22 security posts. Should the company press ahead with their plans then the RMT and our sister unions will consider all options available to us to ensure rigorous passenger safety standards are enforced.

I will, of course, keep you fully advised on developments.

Best wishes.
