Dear Colleague
RATE FOR THE JOB PROPOSAL, TRAIN MANAGERS – EUROSTAR
I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that discussions have taken place between your Union Representatives and Eurostar management over the rate for the job for UK based Train Managers. Following the request for a review of the rate for the job from your Union Reps, Eurostar accepts there are some additional duties added to the Train Managers responsibilities and I can now advise you that the company has tabled a final proposal.
Eurostar has indicated that there are two areas where Train Managers have taken on additional duties and the company has agreed to incorporate these into the new rate for the job proposal. The company also state that there is a third area that they have added to the proposals:
1. Departure processes in Brussels, Paris, Lille and Marne La Vallee – due to evolution of departure processes and the removal of some platform resource in some stations additional responsibilities have been given to Train Managers.
2. Use of technological tools – use of new technological tools that have been introduced to date including support for the implementation of all future Train Manager tools.
3. Infrabel competency – infrabel rules competency for all UK Train Managers to be included in this rate for the job review.
In recognition of the additional duties outlined above, the company propose to increase the pensionable salaries of all validated UK Train Managers by £6,000 and to backdate this payment to the 1st June 2023.
The matter has been subject to recent consideration by the union’s National Executive Committee, who are of the view that the pay offer is acceptable. Therefore, I have been instructed to inform the company of our acceptance of the pay increase.
In addition to the above and in relation to the Dutch language competency, I can advise you that the Union has raised this matter with Eurostar and has provided the company with our suggested amendments to their proposals. At the time of writing, I am awaiting their response.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
