Dear Colleagues

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITION OF SERVICE 2021 – LONDON CYCLE HIRE SCHEME

The union’s negotiating team has attended pay talks with the company and at the conclusion of these meetings the following options have been tabled:-

Option One

1.75% backdated to 1st April 2021 tied to minor productivity improvements across each function. The productivity improvements are as follows:-

Mobile Operatives - Backfilling for cleaners as and when capacity allows and we’re short of cleaners on an ad-hoc basis
Drivers – maintaining the vehicle cab cleanliness at the end of each shift, and supporting a customer hub when short on MO resource
Mechanics – increasing output to 8 bikes per day and increased QC
Control Room – for absorbing additional workload for Smart Bikes etc.

Option Two

1% backdated to 1st April 2021 with management having to impose productivity improvements across functions in accordance with contracts of employment and job descriptions.

Your union’s National Executive Committee has considered these options and it has instructed me to hold a referendum of you and your colleagues so that you can have your say. Additionally, having considered the views of your negotiating team the National Executive Committee is recommending that you vote to reject both options. The National Executive Committee note that both these options contain below inflation pay offers linked to productivity, so what is on the table is essentially a pay cut in real terms. Additionally, the proposed pay uplift is inferior to comparative pay awards which have been tabled by other employers within the TFL structure. Therefore, the National Executive Committee are strongly recommending that you vote to reject both options.

The on-line referendum will close on Thursday 15th July 2021 at 11:00 hours.

REFERENDUM INSTRUCTIONS

You will shortly receive an email from a company called “Choice Voting” which will allow you to register your vote. Please follow the instructions and make sure you complete this by no later than 11:00 hours on Thursday 15th July 2021. If you know any of your colleagues who has not received this email, or if you have any difficulties voting please contact referenda@rmt.org.uk or the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706

VOTE TO REJECT BOTH OPTIONS

Yours sincerely
