Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2016 – OCS (Eurostar)

In line with union policy, a pay claim for an increase in pay and improved terms and conditions was submitted to the company. The Regional Organiser has met with them and the following offer has been tabled:-

•    A 35 pence per hour increase on all current rates of pay, backdated to 1st November 2016.

•    OCS will include an LDA acting up rate, in the full market tender, for those staff who carry out LDA duties who are not on the permanent LDA roster to be paid for all hours when they carry out LDA duties.  Should OCS be successful in retaining the contract from 1st July 2017 and Eurostar approve the LDA acting up rate and include it in the new contract commercial agreement, OCS would then open discussions in July 2017 with the RMT regarding the implementation of any such approved LDA acting up rate.

•    OCS expect a new Merit award programme to be implemented during 2017. This is currently with the Head of Cleaning for approval and sign off. Once the go ahead has been given, three OCS trainers will need to qualify as train the trainer for the Eurostar contract.  Once qualified they will then enrol non NVQ staff into the training programme.   It is expected that staff will complete the training between 6 and 9 months.  In some cases, however due to holiday and any absences this could take up to 1 year.   If an employee has been enrolled for 1 year and has not completed the course through no fault of their own, then they will receive that additional 20p per hour from the one-year anniversary of enrolment.  If the employee has not completed the course due to their own fault (prolonged absence from work or not completing the course work) then they would not receive the 20p per hour until the course is completed.  Should an employee receive the 20p per hour on the one-year anniversary (through no fault of their own clause above) and subsequently fail the course then the 20p per hour will be withdrawn from the date of their failure. After careful consideration, the National Executive Committee has instructed me to inform the company of our acceptance of the offer. This instruction has been carried out and I have requested that the increase and any back monies are paid at the earliest opportunity.
