Dear Colleague,

Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Thales

Negotiations have been a very long and drawn out issue in regard to your 2017 pay increase. However, an offer has finally been tabled which is as follows:-

Year One

•    An increase of 1.2%.

Year Two

•    An increase of 1.2% + 0.8%. The extra 0.8% is subject to meeting the in-year MYB EBIT target.

Year Three

•    An increase of 1.2% + 1.3%. Again, the extra 1.3% is subject to meeting the in-year MYB EBIT target.

The offer has been considered by your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and it has come to the conclusion that this offer does not meet our aspirations for a pay rise. Therefore it has instructed me to inform the Company of our rejection and that a dispute situation now exists between our organisations and that you and your colleagues will be balloted for industrial action. Ballot papers will be dispatched once the record checks have been completed.

I cannot stress how important it is that you use your vote in this ballot. Due to the new draconian anti-trade union laws, thresholds have to be met before the ballot can be validated. In a nutshell, we have to have more than a 50% turnout and more than 40% of the turnout voting ‘YES’ for strike action and action short of a strike. Without meeting these thresholds, the ballot will be declared invalid.

Additionally, if there have been any changes to your job, your workplace location or your home address and contact details, please get in touch with us by contacting the national helpline on 0800 376 3706 or you can email info@rmt.org.uk
