Dear Colleague,

Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Arriva Traincare

You will be aware that your employer has recently sent you correspondence (dated 5th May 17) in relation to our current industrial dispute in which it states an offer has been accepted by another union.

I would add that no offer has been tabled to RMT, and we firmly believe you deserve better than what has been offered to another trade union, and that your employer should and must negotiate with the RMT, and we do not accept that the 2017 pay round has been concluded.

I would remind members that the ballot undertaken by RMT is completely lawful and the strike action called on 19th May is lawful industrial action.

In the Q&A sent to you by Management they state "we have growth plans and strike action clearly creates doubt with current and new business". I would therefore advise the Company to return to the negotiating table and try to reach a mutually satisfactory settlement and not bury its head in the sand.

Management is perfectly aware RMT is available at any time for talks to resolve the current dispute and I urge you to support the RMT's call for strike action. New members who join the union between now and any strike action can lawfully take part in the action; the advice from your employer in the Q&A sheet is incorrect.

I have arranged for two separate dispute meetings to take place at the following times and venues and I would encourage you to attend either of these meetings:-
•    Friday 12th May at 1630 at the RMT South West Office, RMT South West Region, Second floor, Block C, The Crescent Centre, Temple Back, Bristol. BS1 6EZ. RO Daren Ireland in attendance

•    Thursday 18th May at 1830 at The Brunswick Public House, 71 Nantwich Road, Crewe CW2 6AW, AGS Mick Lynch and RO Daren Ireland in attendance.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
