18th May 2017

Dear Colleague,

Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Arriva Traincare

By now you will have received yet another letter from management trying to interfere with your lawful right to take industrial action. For clarification purposes, the action you will be taking is:-

•NOT TO BOOK ON FOR ANY SHIFTS BETWEEN 00:01 AND 23:59 ON FRIDAY 19TH MAY 2017.

This means that any strike action will therefore take place for the whole of the shifts commencing during this period. Accordingly strike action will also take place on Saturday 20th May 2017 in respect of any members expected to book on for shifts commencing on Friday 19th May 2017 that run into Saturday 20th May 2017.

So for example if you are due to commence work at 22:00 on Thursday 18th May, you will book on and complete your shift, although the strike action starts at 00:01 on Friday 19th May, however you WILL NOT book on for your shift that starts at 22:00 on Friday 19th May.

If your shift starts at 06:00 on Friday 19th May then you DON’T book on for that shift but you will book on for your shift that commences at 06:00 on Saturday 20th May.

Now is the time for you to stand together with your colleagues and ignore management’s threats. You are part of a legal and lawful ballot and are entitled to take the strike action as outlined above and YOU CANNOT BE DISCIPLINED FOR TAKING THIS LAWFUL STRIKE ACTION.

Please make every effort to attend the meeting tonight at 18:30 at The Brunswick Public House 71 Nantwich Road CW2 6AW. Here you will be able to speak to Regional Organiser Daren Ireland and Assistant General Secretary Mick Lynch.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION, SUPPORT THE ACTION

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
