RMT CALLS FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Dear Colleagues

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2017 - ARRIVA TRAINCARE

Further to previous correspondence on the above matter, in which I informed you that the strike action which was due to start on 16th June had been suspended to allow further talks to take place.

I can report that from the outset it was clear management had no intention of resolving this issue through negotiation. Arriva Traincare declined all reasonable proposals from the RMT to resolve this dispute and after several hours of talks management only offered to extend the non-contributory Level One Healthshield Cover to employees who are not currently covered. The employer did not offer any improvements to their original pay offer and by the close of talks they had resorted to hurling personal insults at your union’s negotiating team.

It is now crystal clear that the company are treating you with utter disgrace. The union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and recognises the unwillingness of Arriva Traincare to resolve this matter and is extremely dissatisfied by the way management has acted throughout this dispute. In order to force the company to start treating you with respect, the National Executive Committee has decided to call further industrial action.

Therefore, you are instructed to take 24 hours of strike action by NOT booking on for any turns of duty between:-

•    00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Friday 18th August 2017.

Furthermore, you are also instructed to take industrial action in form of refusing to work on a rest day and refusing to work any overtime between the following times/dates: -

•    00:01 hours on Wednesday 9th August 2017 until 23:59 hours on Thursday 17th August 2017.

I urge you to continue your magnificent support for your union and solidarity with your colleagues in this dispute. I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT YOUR UNION – SUPPORT THE ACTION

Yours sincerely
