To ALL Vinci Cleaner members on the ARL contract
2nd April 2019
Our Ref: BR1/0001/V(ARL)
RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2018 – VINCI (ARRIVA RAIL LONDON CONTRACT)
Further to my letter dated 21st March 2019 in relation to the above, I am sure that you will have received a letter from management advising you that the previous industrial action was ineffective and that their pay offer is ‘reasonable’. This is a sad and desperate attempt to undermine the forthcoming industrial action.
On the last strike day on Monday 18th February 2019, Vinci had to bus managers into London from other contracts and even resorted to putting some of them up in hotels, just to ensure that the could provide ‘an adequate’ cleaning service. It must have cost the company an awful lot of money to bring in other workers from around the country in an attempt to undermine the strike action on 18th February 2019 – no wonder they are trying to persuade you to not go on strike on 4th, 5th and 6th April 2019.
Management also claim that their pay offer is ‘reasonable’. The company’s pay offer is derisory and falls below the rate of inflation at the anniversary date – in essence it would be a real terms pay cut for RMT members working at Vinci. A company that can afford to haul its employees across the country and put them up in London hotels can afford to give its workers a decent pay rise this year.
REMEMBER, all Cleaner members are instructed NOT to sign on for any shifts commencing between:-
• 21:00 hours on Thursday 4th April 2019 and 20:59 hours on Saturday 6th April 2019.
While it is hoped that a conclusion to this dispute can be found it is important that members continue to send a clear message to management that they will not accept derisory pay offers.
