Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2019 – Axis Cleaning and Support Services Transport for Wales Contract

Our Ref: BR1/0001/AXIS(TFWC)
15th May 2020

Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2019 – Axis Cleaning and Support Services (Transport for Wales Contract)

Further to previous correspondence on the above matter, I am writing to advise you the RMT has decided to ballot Axis members on the Transport for Wales contract for a third time. You will be aware that the first ballot was withdrawn as Axis used the anti-trade union laws to obstruct the ballot. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown the second ballot was suspended and therefore was never counted. Having consulted with your Representatives and noting that this matter still remains unresolved, the union’s National Executive Committee has decided to ballot members for a third time. Consequently, the new ballot will open on Friday 22nd May 2020 and you will need to ensure you return your voting paper by no later than first post on Friday 12th June 2020.

I understand that it is frustrating that you are being asked to vote for a third time, however, it has never been more vital that we come together and ensure an enormous turnout in this ballot, so I urge you all to vote overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action. It is imperative that we stand together and demonstrate our strength of feeling to the company. The fight to ensure pay parity with your colleagues working for TfW can only continue if members vote YES for industrial action in this ballot.

Additionally, I will be writing to TfW and the Welsh Government demanding that you and your colleagues at Axis Cleaning and Support Services are immediately taken back in house by Transport for Wales as per the promise they made to this union. Furthermore, I will write to the members of our Welsh Parliamentary Group asking them to raise this matter in the Welsh Assembly.

If you are aware of any colleague who does not receive this correspondence please advise them to contact the RMT Helpline by e-mailing info@rmt.org.uk or by calling the Freephone Helpline number on 0800 376 3706 where we will be able to amend their details accordingly.

Important Please Note: The Scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is now 'Civica Election Services' and not the 'Electoral Reform Society'. Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.

Yours sincerely
